Wartime Colyton had 40 shops, 6 pubs, its own gas, water, electricity and a railway station. This self sufficient community managed to enjoy a traditional rural life despite the war.
In 2005, the
History Society put on an exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of the
end of the war. A series of filmed interviews took place with locals
remembering their experiences. The society felt that this material

future generations. |
The book and DVDs are also available from Colyton Post Office. A successful bid for lottery funding enabled the DVDs and the book to be produced. Click here to order by post A.West Web Design Copyright © 2002 |
