Founded in 1986, the Colyton Parish History Society has 150 members whose aim is to encourage and promote the study of local history.

The society has a collection of deeds, documents, books, photographs, maps, and other records relating to Colyton's history.

Additions to this collection, especially old photographs are most welcome if appropriate we are happy to copy and return to the owner. An acknowledgement can be provided in our records. Please contact Colin Haynes on 01297 552922

THE LOCAL HISTORY CENTRE -- Family History: the society will always try to provide help for anyone wishing to research family history or any other aspect of Colyton's past. Meanwhile, space has been made available for a selection of the Society’s photographs and documentary records in the Colyton Library. Guided tours. The society conducts One-Hour Guided History Walks around the town. For parties of 10 or more people the cost is £2 per head and the proceeds support our history society.

Monthly meetings: The society holds monthly speaker evenings which are open to both members and non-members.

Subscription is £5 for individuals or £8 for a couple.
