The Colyton Local History Centre
houses
an
exhibition,
a
research
facility,
and the Society's collection of deeds, documents, books, photographs, maps,
and other records relating to Colyton's history.
Additions to this collection
are most welcome. Items can be left for
copying with
Colin Haynes at Haynes Hardware, Market Place (please
record your name and address clearly before handing in your material
for copying).

photographs and memorabilia giving a comprehensive history of Colyton.

The Local History Centre is situated at the entrance to the main car park in Colyton.
During the summer months the centre is open from 2pm to 5pm on weekdays.
Visitors are most welcome during these times.
The Research Room (Family History -- Genealogy).
The
Colyton Local History Centre also incorporates a
"Service Point " on
behalf of Devon County
Council
Records Office.
This provides access to parish registers, maps, and
census records for
members of the public researching the history of their family or house.
It is manned by volunteers who are pleased to give help and advice, and a
representative of the Devon Records Office attends once a month. The Research Centre is
open on Thursday afternoons from March to November from 2pm until 5pm. At other times it can be opened on request by
